Product Review: Safi Haircare's Pumpkin Puddin'

I had the pleasure of trying out a new hair butter from Safi Haircare over the weekend. It's a new seasonal product called Pumpkin Puddin'. Below is the product description and ingredients, which are also listed on Safi's Website.

This yummy Pumpkin Puddin' is right on time for the holidays! It's light, airy, fluffy and smells like Grandma's pumpkin pie on Thanksgiving day. It has the scent of delicious pumpkin and the perfect mix of spices with top notes of cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves, pumpkin and rum. Mid notes of apples, muguet, peach and ginger, paired with nutty vanilla base.
The great thing about Pumpkin Puddin' is that it can be used on your hair and body. The dash of cinnamon that's in this product will keep your strands nice and strong.

Ingredients: Pumpkin Seed Butter, Shea Butter, Aloe Vera Gel, Castor Oil, Argan Oil, Coconut Oil,Tucuma Butter, Cupuacu Butter, Red Palm Oil, Water, Xantham Gum(Thickener), Emulsifying wax, Ground Cinnamon, Sodium Lactate

Here is how I used it to achieve the look above:
1. I washed and conditioned my hair (really, I use any shampoo I have around. In this case I used Suave Tropical Coconut Shampoo and Organix Brazilian Keratin Conditioner). I sat under a hair steamer for about 15 min and rinsed out the conditioner.
2. Applied my staple leave-in, Kinky Curly Knot Today, detangling my hair in sections.
3. Sectioned my hair off to start twisting (individual two-strand twists all around -- same as noted in previous blog posts). For each section that I twisted, I applied the Pumpkin Puddin' for moisture and a small amount (about the size of a quarter) of Jane Carter's Curl Defining Cream for hold.
4. Once my hair was all twisted, I let it airdry overnight and unraveled them in the morning.
5. For this frohawk style I just used 3 hair combs on each side (I used Eco-styler gel to smooth the sides).

To maintain this look, I retwist every other night by spraying with a little water (just plain water in a spray bottle) and retwisting. The other nights I just sleep with a bonnet on and fluff in the a.m. I'll do this for about a week before I start this process again.

The Pumpkin Puddin' really smells JUST like a pumpkin pie. If you are greedy like me, you'll want to eat it. Lol It's very moisturizing but not heavy and doesn't weigh the hair down. My hair had a nice, light scent, and was fluffy/had body. It was also very moisturized so this is a WINNER!
