Protective Style | Marley Twists

Every so often, I like to take breaks as far as styling my hair goes. Also, my schedule is getting more hectic and I needed a style that would allow me 2-3 weeks "off" from styling my hair. My sis Alex's protective style challenge couldn't have come at a better time. (To read about the challenge and/or to participate, please click HERE.) Alex (of thegoodhairblog.com) had recently installed Marley Twists in her own hair, and I LOVED them. I was going to wait for her to take hers out to try it myself (Lol) but she wanted to practice, sooo... I let her! And she did a GREAT job, I LOVE them! With the exception of my urban twists from the Damn Salon a few months ago, I hadn't worn extensions in my natural hair since going natural in 2008. I really like the Marley Twists b/c they are chunkier and will be super easy to take out. It only took approximately 2 hours to install.

Since I didn't put them in (but I have a pretty good idea of how to, as I've watched several YouTube vids and can't wait to try it myself), I attached 2 helpful vids which show the technique and how to care for the twists while they are in, etc. The videos should answer most of your questions, but PLEASE, if you have a question that the videos don't answer, definitely don't hesitate to ask me. I'd be happy to answer, or find out the answer for you.

Hi, what specific brand of marley hair did Alex use for her twist?

KeetaRay said...

@Anon: I am not sure what brand Alex used in her hair.

Can you please ask/find out? I would really like to know because it seems like that brand is easier to work with and I really liked the results from others that I've seen. I'd really appreciate it!

@Anon: Please check her video I included in this post, she says it's there :) Around the 4 min mark.

I watched the video a couple of times already and have been to her blog and asked but haven't got a response, all she says in the video is that she used marley braiding hair but she didn't name the specific brand. I've been looking in a couple bss and can't seem to find it anywhere. I don't want to use any other brand, so can you please just ask her what is the specific brand name she used? I'm dying to know!!

Anon,
In watching the video....Alex states that she used Malibu. Just a little FYI....I was able to find it in a local beauty supply store for 4.99 pkg. Hope this helps! @KeetaRay...I hope you didnt mind me answering for U.:-)

Those beads in your head like what are they called and where can I buy them? I'm doing the braids next Saturday and I want to add a funky twist to them

@Anon I'm not sure what the beads are called but I got them at the beauty supply store in the beads section. They have them in gold and silver.
